For two years, the influencer Yasmin Kirilova received threats that she and her child would be killed. The story involves midnight phone calls and insults. It turns out that the state, within about a year, can’t do anything because it’s a mental illness. An investigation is underway, which has not yet yielded results, NOVA reported.
Of all the messages that Kirilova received from the unknown woman, there is one that she will hardly forget. “In the name of God, in the name of Allah, I want your child to die, I want Arthur’s heart, the little heart you hear beating, to stop. And let this happen in front of your sweet eyes, Yasminche”, reads the threat.
“The harassment started two years ago. In the end, it turned out I wasn’t the only one being bullied. It all started before I got pregnant, continued throughout my pregnancy and now after my child was born. He makes fake accounts on TikTok and says that I lost the baby. From there, my relatives and friends started calling me on the phone and expressing their condolences. I had to explain myself in an endless vicious circle that everything was fine with me and the child. And there was simply no end to this thing, even if I didn’t pay attention to her, even if I didn’t share it, there was no end. Every day”, says Kirilova.
It can be seen on her social media that she actually bullies many other girls besides me. I share pictures of many other children besides my own. It does obituaries, it’s just that the harassment is terrible. When I was pregnant, it was something that destroyed my psyche every day. “I’ll come, I’ll cut open your belly, I’ll take the child out.” I will come, I will kill him, I will crush his skull, I will cut him into pieces, I will store him in jars”, adds the influencer to her story about the threats.
Yasmin explains that she can prove anything. “I have proven them, I was in the GDBOP, where I gave explanations, and I have provided a flash drive with sound recordings, with screenshots and chats. The investigating officers personally saw the message on my phone: “I will find you, your child will be killed. I’ll kill you”. Every day I get messages from thousands of profiles that have a picture of the same person,” she adds.
The calls continue almost around the clock with direct threats. “He kept calling me. When she picks up the phone, she hangs up,” emphasizes the influencer. When Yasmin wants to put an end to this, she goes to the police.
“GDBOP initially reacted surprisingly disinterestedly. Because I have been to the police many times and many times they did not let me file a complaint with the simple explanation that it makes no sense since we do not know who this person is. They told me: “You can’t leave a complaint in the air. That is, against someone you don’t know who it is. And we don’t have the ability to track who it is.” Given that it’s a simple thing and any simple hacker can trace the profile in seconds. In the end, it turned out that they could really track her down in seconds, but they didn’t want to do it,” she emphasizes.
“The investigation was started because a famous singer was harassed. they said “Yes, there is something to be done”. After they caught her, they called me again and told me that the problem was that the woman had a mental illness. This is the result of him not taking his pills. They explained that there was nothing more they could do, that they had seized evidence, but most likely the case will be dismissed because of her mental problems”, specified the affected influencer.
Yasmin’s attempt to defend herself hits a snag. It turns out that there is no institution in the country that can provide her with peace of mind immediately after filing a report. NOVA reached out to the GDBOP for comment.
“In all four cases, we reach the same person. A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated in the case, under the leadership of the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office”, the Directorate explains.
“The person has a mental illness and is in the care of his mother. After the permission of the Sofia District Court, a search was carried out at the address where the person lives. From there, mobile devices and computers were seized, on which expert examinations were assigned, the results of which are not ready”, the state prosecution added.
The law excuses people with proven mental illness and tells their victims that it can’t do much about it. “According to the GDBOP, I have to keep posting complaints indefinitely until someone pays attention to me. The logic is that the more signals there are, the greater the chance that someone will pay attention to me, given that they already know who the person is, they know everything about the matter, but there is nothing they can do”, emphasizes Yasmin.
However, the law provides one solution for cases like this. The court to request treatment. And that’s exactly what the prosecutor’s office will insist on. The influencer is currently awaiting the justice system. But he waits, afraid, while the woman in question makes new and new profiles.
