There were reasonable doubts and assumptions of the Navy specialists that there were special sensors inside the drone that would cause it to self-detonate when an attempt was made to open it.
This was announced by the commander of the Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihailov, in connection with the discovered aerial device with an explosion, which landed on the rocks near Tyulenovo, “DarikNews” reported.
“For this reason, before deciding to move the drone to a safer place for detonation, the diving team carried out a thorough inspection, including underwater, for the presence of cables and ropes that could activate it when moved,” he explained.
“All the rules and procedures for the destruction of this type of device were followed absolutely exactly. I can state unequivocally that the divers acted correctly in a way that saved their lives and the lives of everyone else,” said the Navy commander, who is overseeing the Triton-2023 national diving exercise with international participation.
Rear Admiral Kiril Mihailov thanked the divers who carried out the explosion and pointed out that so far the Bulgarian Navy has not encountered this type of improvised device.
