The extension of Line 3 of the Sofia Metro and new metro trains, the bypass of Burgas and the deepening of the Port of Burgas – these are the projects that will be financed by OP “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014 – 2020 until the end of 2023. when the deadline for admissibility of expenses under the operational program expires, the press service of the cabinet announced.
The government has approved changes to the program that allow funds to be redirected from already approved projects that will not be fully implemented by the end of this year. The outstanding activities are planned to be financed by the “Transport Connectivity” Program 2021-2027 to ensure the full completion of the projects.
With funds from OPTTI 2014-2020, until the end of 2023, activities will be carried out on the extension of Line 3 of the metro in Sofia, section “ul. “Shipka” – quarter “Geo Milev” – residential complex “Slatina” – “Arena Armeets” Hall/Tech Park Sofia – “Tsarigradsko Shose” Blvd. The project for the construction of the bypass of Burgas from the “Trakia” highway to the airport in the city will also be financed, as well as the dredging of the territory of the Port of Burgas.
Another 120 million euros from the program have been transferred to the SAFE instrument, which was created at European level, to enable reimbursement of part of the costs incurred for compensation of small and medium-sized enterprises. The funds were paid within the framework of a National measure to compensate non-domestic end customers of electricity.
BTA reminds that the three-kilometer section of the Sofia metro, from the railway station “Hadji Dimitar” next to the railway station “Levski”, which is currently under construction, should be completed at the end of 2025. A total of 43 thousand people will be the passenger flow through the new three stations, for which eight more trains have been ordered, in addition to the running 30 trains for the third metro line .
