“Bratya Miladinovi – 1936”, Mikrevo, Strumyani Municipality, Bulgaria and Strumica – Strumica Tourist Union, North Macedonia have successfully completed joint project CB006.2.23.115 “Living cultural heritage of two peoples on one stage”.
A specific goal of the project is to promote cooperation between regional participants in the field of sustainable tourism in the cross-border region Bulgaria – North Macedonia. Within the framework of the project, 4 joint cultural events were organized – the Feast of the Strumian Municipality, the Feast of the Konche Municipality, the Strumica Carnival and the Night of Culture and Friendship. Hundreds of Bulgarian and Macedonian participants took part in the events, including kukers from Bulgaria, dancers from the “Malesevtsi” Ensemble and the “Folklorna niza” Dance and Song Association – Strumica and others. In response to the efforts made, a Memorandum of Joint Cooperation was concluded between the Maleshevtsi Folk Song and Dance Ensemble under the Miladinovi Brothers – 1936 National Theater and the Folklorna Niza Dance and Song Association – Strumica, guaranteeing the duration of the main results of the project. The project also built the foundations of a youth cultural network “Youth Teach Youth” and the pilot joint activities engaged over 50 youth from both sides of the border to experience the magic of the cultures of the two peoples together. To promote the exchange of good practices in the field of sustainable development of tourism, an online platform “Living cultural heritage of two peoples on one stage” was developed. Three short films about movable cultural heritage in the cross-border region were shot within the project. Equipment was also purchased – a stage, sound and lighting equipment, ensuring the future cultural events organized by the “Bratya Miladinovi – 1936” NCH, including one of the most significant for the Blagoevgrad region – the “Malesevo sings and dances” festival.
“Bratya Miladinovi – 1936”, Mikrevo and Tourist Union Strumica – Strumica will continue their joint work, guided by the common goal of preserving the living cultural heritage on both sides of the border.
