An analysis of the state social security budget for 2023 shows that pensions continue to be the biggest expense this year as well. Their amount amounts to BGN 19,163,164.5 thousand or 87.9 percent of the total expenditure for the year. The planned funds for pensions are BGN 3,657,440.2 thousand or 23.6 percent more compared to 2022. This is stated in the Information Bulletin of the National Social Security Institute.

The planned revenues are in the amount of BGN 11,228,500.0 thousand, or 16 percent more than those stipulated in the Law on the Budget of the Public Enterprises for the previous year. This amount includes BGN 11,080,450.0 thousand in income from social security contributions and BGN 148,050.0 thousand in non-tax income, according to the NSI bulletin.
