The head of the university clinic for orthopedics and traumatology at the Varna “St. Anna” hospital, associate professor Dr. Plamen Minchev, attacked and strangled visitors to a patient during the hours scheduled for visiting today. This was reported to “Dnevnik” by witnesses of what happened.

The incident happened between 1pm and 2pm today. The visitors asked the nurse on duty for information about the condition of the patient – their loved one and about the care given to him. To this she reacted with irritation, after which both parties raised the tone of the conversation. It was at this moment that the head of the department, Assoc. Dr. Plamen Minchev, intervened and pounced on the visitors, starting to choke one of them. Due to the conflict that arose, a team from the Second Regional Police Department of the city also arrived at the hospital.

In response to questions asked by “Dnevnik” today, the “St. Anna” hospital in Varna informed that the injured visitors were taken to the regional police station, where they gave information about what happened, but did not file a complaint. In a conversation with the executive director of the hospital, Dr. Krasimir Petrov, they received an apology. The behavior of Assoc. Dr. Plamen Minchev is to be examined by the medical ethics commission in the medical institution.
