Top Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov climbed one place in the world rankings to 19th after reaching the semi-finals of the ATP 250 series tournament in Chengdu, China.
Grisho recorded two consecutive successes in Chengdu but, unfortunately, was stopped one step short of the final by Alexander Zverev. However, with its successful performance, our first racket added 90 points to its asset for the ATP ranking.
Now Dimitrov will participate in another race in China – the ATP 500 in Beijing. The draw for the main draw there gave our boy a first round bout against American Mackenzie MacDonald.
The rest of the Bulgarian tennis players registered a drop in the world rankings, with Dimitar Kuzmanov losing 9 places and from today he is below No. 189, Adrian Andreev dropped by 34 positions to 217th. Alexander Lazarov, who returned to the court after a serious injury during the Davis Cup clash against Kazakhstan, climbed one place to #478.
There are no changes in the top 10, with Novak Djokovic still at the top, followed by Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.
