The magnificent performance of the Bulgarian tennis players at the European Individual Championship for boys and girls up to 16 years old, Parma (Italy), continues. Our boys and girls doubles started with victories and qualified for the round of 16.
Among the juniors, Ivan Ivanov and Alexander Mitev eliminated the seventh seeded Richard Neimanis and Arturs Zagars from Latvia with 6:2, 4:6, 10-8. For a place in the quarterfinals, the Bulgarians will play against Paolo Angeli and Gasper Matijašić from Slovenia.
Rositsa Dencheva and Elizara Yaneva, ranked No. 1 in the girls’ scheme, defeated Mari Lapimaa and Miriam Rankel from Estonia 6:1, 5:7, 10-8. In the 1/8 finals, the Bulgarian women will play against Alexandra Panagiotidou and Mirto Proimaki from Greece.
Earlier today, Ivan Ivanov among the juniors and Rositsa Dencheva and Elizara Yaneva among the girls qualified for the 1/16 finals in singles.
Ranked No. 7 in the junior singles ranking, Ivanov defeated Joseph Mazingham from Great Britain 6:2, 6:2. For a place in the round of 16, Ivan will play against Hide Schoenmakers from the Netherlands.
Dencheva, who was ranked No. 3 among the girls, defeated Alexandra Panagiotidou from Greece 6:0, 6:1. For a place in the round of 16, Rositsa will play against Daria Bibanina from Finland.
Elizara Yaneva, ranked No. 4 in the girls, defeated Sonya Depesova from Slovakia 6:2, 7:5. Elizara showed great character and made a comeback from 2:5 to 7:5 in the second set. In the round of 16, Janeva will play against Carolina Gasparini from Italy.
