The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has punished Russian biathlete Alexey Slepov for two years for violating anti-doping rules, the press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) announced.
The court annulled the decision of the Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee of RUSADA from September 30, 2021 to disqualify Slepov for a period of 12 months. The athlete is penalized for violating the order of providing information about the location. The CAS decided to sanction Slepov for 24 months from the date of the decision, September 5, 2023, and to take into account the already served sentence of 12 months.
The 36-year-old Slepov has three European titles in his career, and is also the winner of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) cup in the 2013/2014 season. In March 2021, the biathlete retired from the sport.
