President Rumen Radev drew a new criticism of the rulers, defining it as “schizophrenic and politically ridiculous to cry every day about Schengen and at the same time trumpet that the services have been hacked and there are only spies everywhere”. Radev commented on current topics in front of journalists in Karnobat.
On the question of the expelled Russian priests, the head of state stated that he had not read the report of the National Security Agency.
“I don’t have it with me, but even if I had read it, I wouldn’t have told you, because I’m not like others, some political leaders, who frivolously handle classified information,” said Radev.
According to him, there is a deep ignorance of the essence of the work of DANS. The president pointed out that when it comes to light that someone is an agent, it should not mean that he should be immediately expelled from the country.
“On the contrary, then the actual operational work begins – to establish who are the objects of his influence inside Bulgaria, which people he recruited, if he did, which people he influences, from which people in Bulgaria he receives information, to establish this network – it is interesting. When it is expelled, all efforts fail to reveal the real, if any, agent network and activity. With these actions, Bulgaria deprives itself of one such opportunity, and the people who insist on such actions clearly do not know the services.” said Rumen Radev.
He also commented on the debates surrounding the national security services. The head of state pointed out that DANS is an important element of national security and is not a punching bag on which “ignorant politicians with sick ambitions” can exercise.
“I want to share with you that the lack of adequate public reaction to the recognized violations and self-interest of political leaders from the unfortunate record of compromising our national security and sovereignty, of corrupting elections, of privatizing the state, emboldens these political leaders. today to ruthlessly attack key institutions, to pass judgment on the services at the level of their abject incompetence and ignorance, to demand their replacement on the so-called reform of the services. This is their subjugation so that no one learns of the atrocities of the rulers and no one can effectively resist. These are precisely such actions, which are hidden behind noisy daily declarations and oaths of Euro-Atlantic devotion, that really distance us from the EU and NATO and systematically destroy statehood,” commented the head of state.
Regarding the Defense Commission’s decision to provide S-300 missiles to Ukraine, Radev commented that the government and National Assembly should preserve and develop the defense capabilities of the Bulgarian Army, “and not use it as a donor to foreign armies.”
