At the Bulgarian border points, only state laboratories will be able to control food imports into the EU, and this activity will not be able to be outsourced to private companies. This was accepted by the deputies today in the first reading on the proposal of “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria”.
“Five thousand BGN per hour”. Why did a border war break out?
No one spoke against it, only Toshko Yordanov from “There’s such a people” suggested that the amendments should come into force only after the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has built the necessary capacity for this.
The purpose of the bill is to limit the possibility of new private entities on the external borders of the EU to privatize the activity of laboratory analyses, similar to the company “Eurolab 2011”, which operated at the “Capitan Andreevo” point and put security in the country and in the entire EU at risk. says the report of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, which is leading the bill.
During the management of the “Petkov” cabinet, a scandal broke out, from which it became clear that ten years ago the state had granted the monopoly on this activity to a private company, losing about BGN 200 million a year in revenue.
Border posts are objects of national security and the implementation of this control by private individuals is a vicious practice, according to the petitioners.
Importers are also motivated by the fact that private accredited laboratories can operate outside the border points, and at the moment the border phytosanitary control is carried out only by the BABH.
