Sophia Loren underwent surgery in Switzerland on Sunday. The legendary Italian star, who is 89 years old, fell at his home, sustaining multiple fractures, including one in the neck of his femur. The Hollywood Reporter explains that the actress lost her balance in her bathroom, falling sharply and in the process injured her hip, reported BGNES.
According to American media, she underwent emergency surgery. A source said optimism about the success of the operation was “cautiously”, adding that she would have to undergo a short recovery period before beginning a long period of rehabilitation.
Sophia Loren was preparing to open a restaurant on September 26 in the Italian city of Bari. This would be the fourth restaurant to bear her name. At the same time, she should have received the title of honorary citizen of the city. Due to the incident, her engagements had to be cancelled.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, her sons Carlo and Edoardo are by her side in the hospital.
