The Bulgarian clergy have requested the keys to the church “St. Nikolay Mirlikiyski”, known as the Russian Church in Sofia. However, there is no information that they received them, Nova also reported.
On September 21, the abbot of the mission of the Russian Orthodox Church in Sofia, Archimandrite Vasian Zmeev, the secretary of the mission, Archpriest Yevgeny, and an employee of the Russian Church were summoned to the immigration office in our country. There, they were given an order to leave our country within 24 hours, as, based on a report by the National Security Agency, they pose a threat to our national security.
This was followed by the closure of the Russian Church “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker” by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The Russian Church is Bulgarian and must be unlocked”, the Ruse Metropolitan Naum reacted instantly even then.
A little earlier today, from a message from St. Synod to the media it became clear that the Bulgarian Patriarch Neofit has appointed priests from Sofia who will serve in the Russian Church in our capital and will perform divine service in the temple.
