A man with breast cancer never receives the promised treatment from the health fund

Despite a decision of the National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products, which allows the health fund to finance hormone therapy for breast cancer not only in women, but also in men, this is still not a fact, the victim Ivan Andreev told BTV . “I had a scan 10 days ago, which showed that things are developing in a positive direction. It showed that this drug also treats men. The NHSOC in Plovdiv refused to withdraw the decision and the case continues,” explained Andreev.
His lawyer, Kristijan Goshev, explained that the court’s decision is awaited, which will assess whether the health fund’s expertise will be taken, according to which the medicine only treats women, or whether the amendment will be invoked, from which it is clear that men with breast cancer breast can also be treated with this medicine. “I expect to win the case, but that was not our goal. I am offended by the attitude,” added Andreev.
