Political scientist Lyubomir Stefanov defined the GERB-SDS Anton Hekimyan candidacy for mayor of Sofia as an “unexpected move”.
“There was talk of a political candidacy from the party, and Borisov shot them down in his own way one by one. Apparently, as he himself said, there were 6 people to choose between until the last moment. Why Mr. Hekimyan? Because it’s close to Vasil Terziev’s profile,” Stefanov pointed out in the “Crossroads” studio.
“Mr. Terziev may be a multi-millionaire, he may have managed people, but Hekimyan also worked with people, and not for a short time. And he has a way of organizing. So far, we do not see from the request of the announced as the likely winner of the elections – Terziev’s qualities. We see some specific everyday, topical banter. And GERB chose Hekimyan because perhaps they see in him a new type of political leader. Something very different from what they have done so far,” said the political scientist.
“The fact that the candidates are not politicians will bring them face to face with reality. They will have to take decisive steps at some point. Mr. Hekimyan will have to explain himself about Ms. Fandakova – something he has nothing to do with and does not know what to answer. This will be interesting. Mr. Terziev should not over attack GERB-SDS for one very simple reason – the coalition,” he added.
