With two second places in the two races of the fifth round of the Eurocup-3 in Jerez, the participation of the Bulgarian pilot Nikola Tsolov in the new championship ended. Nicola was invited to drive at Jerez for the GRS team and secured the team’s best results for the 2023 season.
Nikola won both qualifiers and set the fastest laps in both races, placing him 9th in the championship standings after 5 rounds.
Today Tsolov won the qualification again, but just like yesterday he was delayed at the start and lost the lead as Sebastian Ogaard took the lead. Nicola chased the Dane from start to finish, trying attacks after each restart, and they were not lacking in view of the frequent exits of the safety car on the track due to accidents, but the leader did not make a single mistake and took his first victory of the season.
At the finish, the gap between the two was less than 0.4 seconds, with Nikola maintaining a gap of 0.5 – 0.8 seconds with the driver, who, however, was able to fend off his attacks.
Earlier today, the Bulgarian debuted with a podium in the championship.
