The women’s national volleyball team of Bulgaria lost their last match of the Olympic qualification. The team lost against Puerto Rico 1:3 (14:25, 25:20, 18:25, 12:25).
The match in Tokyo lasted only one hour and 13 minutes, and the Puerto Rican team was significantly better. The opponent stood very well on the kick-off and also on the block.
The coach Lorenzo Micelli gave all the players a chance to perform in the last match, after the Bulgarians lost their chance to qualify very early on.
The squad ends its participation in the tournament in the Japanese capital with one win and six losses, and a game ratio of 8:18. In the final ranking, Bulgaria will be in seventh and penultimate place in Group B.
Captain Miroslava Paskova finished with eight points, while Elena Becheva and Mikaela Stoyanova each scored seven. For Puerto Rico, Brittany Abercrombie led the way with 21 points, while Alondra Vazquez added 16.
