The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has released its latest report, which says the armed conflict in Sudan, now in its sixth month, has left nearly 5.3 million homeless.
This is about a tenth of the country’s population, with 1.1 million people seeking salvation outside its borders, Radio China reported.
In the past week alone, 114,700 new refugees have joined them. Nearly 70% of the refugees have fled from Khartoum State, where the conflicts are most intense.
