The leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, described as a mistake the response of the National Security Agency (DANS) on Saturday (September 23) after the criticism of it by the co-chairman of “We continue the change” Kiril Petkov.
According to Borisov, politicians can express their opinions, they can share their plans, they can express their concerns, but the services must be “quiet”.

“They should do their work like the last few days, but quietly. It is not their job to answer to any leader – I consider this to be a mistake. And I say again, the response of DANS is a mistake,” he commented.
According to DANS, Kiril Petkov’s statements to “Nova TV” on Saturday morning contained “incompetent, false and misleading comments” regarding the work of the service.
Petkov sharply criticized the activities of DANS and called for structural reforms in it. According to him, there are about 2,200 employees in the service, who are distributed in a “strange, old way, and there are no clear methods for evaluating individual employees how effective they are and how effective they are not.” He also attacked DANS because of the belated expulsion of the head of the Russian church in Sofia and two other employees of this church, because first the services of North Macedonia declared the head of the Russian church a spy.
