Greece’s top tennis player Maria Sakari reached only her second career title after triumphing at the WTA 1000 event in Guadalajara, Mexico.
In the final, the world No. 9 prevailed 7:5, 6:3 in an hour and 45 minutes of play against the representative of the USA, Caroline Dollahide.
In this way, Sakari ended her negative streak of six consecutive losing finals, which she entered after winning her first title in 2019 in Morocco.
The Greek’s setbacks in title matches included a contentious loss in Guadalajara last year, when she went down in straight sets to American Jessica Pegula.
The success also preserved the chances of Maria Sakari to qualify for the WTA Finals at the end of October and the beginning of November, which will again be held on the territory of Mexico in Cancun.
