Lazio and Monza played out a 1-1 draw in the fifth round of Italy’s Serie A, with both goals coming at the Stadio Olimpico before the break.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Ciro Immobile, who was on target from a penalty that was awarded for a foul on Patrick Churia.
Five minutes later, Dani Motta scored for Monza, but it was disallowed for offside.
The visitors still managed to equalize in the 36th minute, when Churia’s ground pass reached the unmarked Roberto Gagliardini in the penalty area and he converted with a free kick to make it 1:1.
Immediately after the break, Gagliardini was close to his second goal, but this time he was inches from the target.
In the 57th minute, Lazio missed their best chance to make it three points after Immobile’s shot hit the post.
A quarter of an hour before the end, Monza’s goal was disallowed for the second time due to an offside.
In the standings, Lazio is in 15th place with 4 points, while with a point more Monza is in 13th position. The two teams are separated by the Roma team, which is visiting Torino tonight.
