The coach of the Bulgarian national wrestling team, Bratan Tsenov, told BNT that he and his team had hoped for more success at the world championships in Belgrade (Serbia). The specialist spoke minutes after Semen Novikov won the bronze medal, who also won a quota for next year’s Paris Games.
This is the first distinction in the classical style of the competition and the third overall distinction for the relatives in “Stark Arena” after the two bronzes of Ramazan Ramazanov (70 kg) in the freestyle and Mimi Hristova (65 kg) among the ladies.
“We had higher hopes for a better performance from the other competitors, but things turned out so that we have to be happy with this quota won. We also had a chance for gold, but that’s how it is in sports. Not always when you want something , it works,” commented Tsenov to BNT.
