Kostadin Dimitrov has over 75% support as mayor of a region in Plovdiv
The leader of GERB Boyko Borisov presents the candidate mayor for the city of Plovdiv, the regional mayors and the lists for municipal councilors.
“Over the past years, I can list a lot of what GERB has done for this city, kindergartens, a sewage treatment plant, stadiums and much more,” said Borisov, recalling that the city did not even have a sports hall. “There is something to compare the last three years with, if you want to happen to your city what happened in the state. The last three years – nothing. The water cycle ended with our projects, the stadiums too. Those who appear now and give a request for management, they managed then as well,” Borisov also stated.
The leader of GERB announced that Kostadin Dimitrov is the party’s candidate for mayor of Plovdiv.
By education, Dimitrov has a master’s degree in mathematics, graduated from “Paisii Hilendarski” University of Plovdiv.
Mayor of Trakia region – Municipality of Plovdiv, third term – 2011 – 2015, 2015 – 2019. In the local elections on 27.10.2019, he was elected as the regional mayor in the first round with over 60% of the votes.
Before that, he worked as a deputy mayor in the “Central” district and in the private sector.
His achievements in sports are not few, as vice president of the Bulgarian ITF Taekwondo Federation.
Long-time ITF Taekwon-Do competitor – Republican Champion, National Team Member, International Instructor and International Judge, ITF Taekwon-Do Master, trainer of many European and World Champions, organizer of the 2015 ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships and at the 2019 ITF Taekwondo World Championship in Plovdiv, etc.
Asked if there was any sociology conducted regarding the support for Kostadin Dimitrov, Borisov stated: Sociology for me is what has been done.
Nevertheless, sociology indicates that over 75% of Plovdiv residents give their support and approval to Kostadin Dimitrov.
“I want to thank Mr. Borisov for the trust, the members of the GERB-Plovdiv party and the team that stands by me,” said Dimitrov. He reported that, unlike a few years ago, now every city can hold sports competitions.
“Everyone can see that the candidates of our non-coalition partners were announced months ago and are only going downhill. So much has been done in Sofia that they will always find one tile to show,” said Borisov and added that he would talk about the capital in the coming days.
He called for a positive campaign, to show what has been done, without personal qualifications and insults.
When asked why GERB is waiting until the last moment to announce the candidate mayors, Borisov said: “Because we are always looking for something better”. The leader of GERB added that significant persons for Plovdiv such as Hristo Stoichkov, Stefka Kostadnova, Atanas Uzunova and many others have given their support to the candidate mayor of GERB Kostadin Dimitrov.
