There is nothing worrisome in the samples of Ukrainian products imported into Bulgaria.
This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev near Kalofer. He opened the National Council for the Protection of Local Bulgarian Agricultural Animal Breeds, bTV reported.
In recent days, information has appeared that products imported from Ukraine are contaminated. However, Vatev denied these doubts. He explained that a new law on the trade of agricultural goods will be developed to put a framework on markups. The reason for this is the checks from the shelf in the stores to the production of milk and milk products, which showed an increase in prices for the final consumer.
On the subject of the agreement that ended the farmers’ protest, Vatev pointed out that the import of sunflowers from Ukraine has been suspended for two months. And after the deadline expires, imports will only be made if necessary.
“In general, the general agreement between Ukraine and the European Commission is for four crops – wheat, corn, rape and sunflower, but we have no problem with the other three, only with sunflower, because it is not only produced in the Black Sea basin, it is also processed here This is a commitment made by Ukraine itself – it will not allow the import of sunflowers, but if there is a need, everything will be regulated with licensing regimes and only as much as necessary will enter Bulgaria,” Kiril Vatev also said.
