The US has appointed a person who will supervise what is done with the aid granted to Ukraine – not only military, but also economic and humanitarian. This was announced by the Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense.
The appointee is Robert Storch, who is the inspector general of the US Department of Defense. Starting Oct. 18, he will serve as the lead inspector general of Operation Atlantic Resolve, a U.S.-led initiative launched in 2014 to strengthen the NATO alliance in response to Russia’s military actions in Ukraine. Storch’s task is to ensure “comprehensive and effective supervision” of aid.
Robert Storch will work directly in Ukraine — for the first time since February 2022 — and lead the on-the-ground monitoring team for U.S. security assistance to Kiev, the Pentagon announced last week.

The framework of US aid to Ukraine
As part of Atlantic Resolve, the US Congress has appropriated US$113 billion since February 2022 alone for security, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and other war-affected countries; US European Command operations and related support to the US military; and operations of other US government agencies involved in responding to the situation in Ukraine.
The creation of the new team comes at a critical time for aid to Ukraine, as a growing number of Republicans have begun to question the need to spend billions of dollars in Ukraine and call for greater oversight of where the aid goes.
