Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin announced that he was outraged by the expulsion of the head of the Russian Church in Sofia, Archimandrite Vasian, for espionage in favor of Russia
This is the first reaction of a high-ranking representative of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church on this case, in which the Bulgarian authorities expelled two more officials of the Russian Church and it was closed.

“We express our regret regarding the expulsion from the country of the superior and the two priests of the temple – courtyard “St. Nikolay”, the city of Sofia – archim. Vasian (Zmeev), prot. Evgeny and prot. Alexius”, says the Metropolitan of Vidin, quoted by BNT.
He insists that “in the current troubled political time, political biases, parties, ideologies, political unions, coalitions will pass, as a number of such have passed irrevocably in the history of our country”.
“What remains is Christ’s truth and love, whose exponent and embodiment in the world is the Church. Christ’s truth and love are the hope for salvation for all of us. They are also the basis of our personal and national security,” Daniel also points out.
“Truth and love teach us to respect each person and do nothing by partiality (1 Tim. 5: 21). May God be our helper and protector through the storms in the world confused because of our sins and lead us to His peace!”, is complemented in the position.
