The heirs of Dimitar Talev organize a protest in front of the Ministry of Culture. As a reason, they point to the inaction of the state in the case of the writer’s native house in Prilep.
They also ask PP-DB MP Manol Peykov what happens to the money collected back in April through his foundation from donations from Bulgarians, in the amount of BGN 200,000.
Here is what the heirs wrote on Facebook:
“WE, THE HEIRS OF DIMITAR TALEV, ANNOUNCE A PROTEST BECAUSE OF THE COMPLETE INACTION IN THE CASE OF THE WRITER’S BIRTHDAY HOUSE IN BAT!”
Inaction is on two lines. The first:
The government of Galab Donev with decision number 421 of June 2, 2023 gave consent in principle to the purchase of the house. The decision calls for further instructions to be given to the Ministry of Culture and other institutions to work on the case. For almost 4 months, no real action has been taken.
Request: Immediately the state enters into direct negotiations with the owner of the house. To buy Talev’s native home and turn it into a museum or a cultural center, as is the demand of the entire Bulgarian people, of the owner and of us – the Talev heirs!
The second:
People’s representative Manol Peykov, who already in April collected DONATIONS (about BGN 200,000, which is the announced price of the house) for the purpose of buying the house from his foundation “Manol Peykov and Friends”, is acting absolutely unjustifiably from every point of view, including and from legal. For 6 months now, he has not taken action on the purchase and sale, but unrealistically blames the Macedonian side for the delays. According to lawyers, such a delay is impossible, and obstacles to such a private transaction practically do not exist. Such a deal takes a maximum of 2 weeks, not 6 months.
Request:
Manol Peykov should immediately specify exactly what the administrative problem is that complicates the purchase and sale. Publicly and through documents, not through Facebook statuses.
To indicate what is the amount collected so far for these 6 months for the house, because it has certainly increased during the period indicated.
To donate the collected funds to the state, if it needs them, for the purchase or repair of the house. The best solution is for the house to be state property. Its purchase by a private foundation gives it a very uncertain and unstable future.
We expect the Bulgarian people to stand behind us in the just cause, which is already more than a quarter of a century old, namely – to return the house of Dimitar Talev in Prilep to Bulgarian hands!
The protest will be held on September 30 at 12:00 in front of the Ministry of Culture.
