Plates were broken, bonds were forged and secrets were spilled in Thursday night’s installment of The Real Housewives of the Winelands.
Amy Kleinhans-Curd, Anita Lloyd, Candice Bester, Karen Schwendtke, Mariska Thorpe and Michelle van Zyl give viewers of this reality series a weekly look at their luxurious lives in the Western Cape winelands.
Amy, a businesswoman and former Miss. South Africa, helped the women take out their frustrations on things rather than each other and invited Karen, a successful businesswoman, Mariska, a former wealth manager, and Michelle, an esthetician, for a smashing session at Smash Lab.
Here they could get hold of old crockery and electronic devices with a baseball and Karen and Michelle in particular enjoyed it. However, Mariska did her and Karen’s frustrations to each other apparently revoked.
“These shots are for every box I’m going to break for the boxes people put me in,” she said as she looked at Karen.
“I see when people look at me. Then I said: ‘okay, we can count boxes later’. Because I’ve been in many boxes in my life,” was the fiery Karen’s response.
Mariska also revealed during this visit that her second pinky foot is on the way.
“If it’s a boy, you can call this little one ‘Wind’,” Karen said teasingly, referring to Mariska’s little girl, Ocean,’s unique name.
These two women then decided to talk alone after the beating session about their struggles, but all attempts at a peace talk quickly failed when old cows were dug out of the ditch.
Karen told Mariska that she was too “loud” is and according to her gives the impression that she is at the front of the bandwagon. She also called Mariska and her husband “vagrants”.
According to Mariska, Karen repeatedly interrupted her and highlighted pointless talking points. She also expected Karen to apologize to her performance during the women’s visit to the Kruger National Park would ask
“I didn’t the fricken no need to apologize to you, you owe me one. Did you think you were going to put on gloves and fight me?” Karen challenged Mariska.
“I’m not hard on Mariska, but I have a problem with someone who doesn’t know their place. Will we ever be best friends? No,” an angry Karen told the cameras.
On the other side of the vineyards, Candice, a singer and businesswoman, visited Anita, whose husband will soon retire as CEO of the Cooperative Winemakers Union of South Africa (KWV), at the Paarl mansion.
The two hit it off for Anita’s Casino Royale party, which was the highlight of Thursday night’s episode.
During this visit, Michelle revealed that her home life is challenging at times.
“I feel sorry for her, because I feel she is crying out for help. I think she has a difficult life,” Candice said about Michelle’s situation.
During the party, Anita also spoiled her guests with a series of professional photos taken of her, as well as a tour of her fancy jewelery drawer and wardrobe – during which the cameras were unfortunately not welcome.
When the women later sat down at the poker table, Anita’s patience with Karen and Michelle quickly began to overflow. According to Anita, she was forced to rip Karen in the mouth in particular.
Michelle, who admitted that she did not listen carefully to the rules, according to Candice became like a “child” and did not focus on the game, while Karen repeatedly interrupted the poker dealer, David.
“Get over yourself,” Anita roused herself. “Michelle was too weird been, I don’t know what happened there.”
Anita cut the evening short and summarily sent her guests home, which according to Amy left a bad taste in her mouth.
“You must go now… and hurry,” Anita said to the housewives with a half smile.
