We wanted to know from Maroela readers if they could guess who Wouter is.

The cat is out of the bag! Wouter is Weet’s owl. Know is an e-reference guide for scholars. This digital school encyclopedia is chock-full of everything an eager Afrikaans scholar wants to know!

“The aim with Weet is to give schoolchildren access to a digital reference source with good quality, reliable information in Afrikaans, complementary to the school curriculum, which will enable them to do reference work for school tasks and assignments in Afrikaans,” explains Weet ‘s project manager, Petronel Fourie.

Know has a strong educational focus and all content in the e-reference guide is relevant for learners, thus contributing to Afrikaans mother tongue teaching at school. The target market is learners from gr. 4 to gr. 7 for phase 1, but this will eventually be extended to high school students.

Congratulations to Yvette van Vollenhoven who correctly guessed who Wouter is and walked away with a cash prize of R4 000.

Mariska Freitag, Jacques Malan and Annette Smit also guessed correctly and they each win a consolation prize. Wouter the owl will soon grace their bookshelves.
