Things are looking too rosy at Red Bull after the first five races of the new season.
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have so far taken turns to stand on the top step of the podium, while the team has significantly more points in the manufacturers’ standings than its nearest rival.
“Five races, five victories and a lightning race victory. We have never enjoyed such a run-up to the season,” Christian Horner told Sky Sports.
According to the Red Bull teammate, the other teams’ struggles can contribute to Red Bull’s image polishing sessions.
He believes that the car manufacturer has indeed taken a step in the right direction with its new racing car, but it seems that the other teams have gone backwards.
“We are somewhat surprised that the others are not firing on the same pistons as last year, but I am convinced that they will pay attention to the shortcomings. We can even see a significant improvement in Imola.”
However, the 49-year-old Englishman did not let the chance slip by to come up with a quip.
“We have really started to wonder where the others are. We made the normal improvements in the off-season; what happened to Ferrari and Mercedes?” Horner joked.
Despite Red Bull’s dominance, he warned that there is still a lot of water in the sea.
“Yes, we have an excellent race car and a strong team, but there are still many races waiting for us before the season comes to an end. Let’s just see what happens after the next few sessions in Imola, Monaco and Barcelona.”
