VW has revealed that the next-generation Amarok Single Cab will hit South African dealers at the “end of May.”
Previously only available as a double cabthe bakkie can now also be had in three more-utilitarian single cab configurations from a starting price of R499,000.
Specifications
At launch, the new Amarok Single Cab will be offered with two 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engines, each paired with a model-exclusive manual transmission.
The base specification generates 110kW and 350Nm and pairs with a five-speed gearbox that delivers power to the rear axle. The setup returns a combined fuel consumption of 6.9l/100km and is capable of reaching a top speed of 170km/h.
Standard fittings on this model encompass 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless App-Connect, an 8-inch active-info driver’s display, a multi-function steering wheel, and driver/passenger/side/curtain airbags.
The rest of the single cab line-up puts out a higher 125kW and 405Nm and makes use of a six-speed shifter, with the option to get both a rear-wheel or four-wheel-drive 4Motion configuration.
Average fuel usage sits at 6.9l/100km on the rear-wheel version and at a higher 7.1l/100km for the 4Motion, and both can go up to 180km/h. These models also boast an improved payload capacity of over 1.2 tons, compared to the 110kW trim’s one tonne.
Additional equipment on the 125kW two-seaters includes 17-inch Combra alloy wheels, a rear differential lock, a trailer hitch, and raised suspension.
The only optional feature available in the new Amarok Single Cab range is the exterior paint colour, with a palette of Bright Beige, Bright Blue, Clear White, Dark Grey, Deep Red, Light Grey, Midnight Black, and Mid Blue to choose from.

Each purchase carries a 4-year/120,000km warranty as standard with the 125kW models additionally getting a 3-year/60,000km service plan.
