Oppi-Plaas is an Afrikaans festival that takes place on 17 June 2023 just outside Dullstroom. The festival promises a day full of entertainment for the whole family.
There will be a variety of musical artists including Steve Hofmeyr, Liezel Pieters, Moonshine Country Blues Band, Tiffany Steyn and Dienkie en Doedels to entertain the children. However, it’s not just music: There’s also 3D Barrel Racing, triathlon and a potjie food competition!
Steve Hofmeyr will certainly provide one of the highlights of this festival and his many fans come from far and wide to see this well-known, beloved Afrikaans music star perform.
Liezel Pieters is a well-known singer, known in her own right for her unique voice and striking lyrics. Her fans will be happy to know that she recently released a new album and that they will be able to see her at the festival.
The fans of the Moonshine Country Blues Band will also be pleasantly surprised at the festival with this group’s distinctive style of American Country and Western music.
Tiffany Steyn is a new artist to definitely watch. She will enchant the festival-goers with a variety of musical styles, her versatile voice and sparkling personality. She will also be sharing her singles with the audience.
Dienkie and Doedels are artists who specialize in children’s music and entertainment. They sing and dance with the children and add an element of fun and excitement to the festival.
Adventure and excitement play a big role at such an active festival day and the 3D Barrel Racing speaks of this! Horse and rider must weave as fast as possible between bars and rush past a few pylons. Skill and expertise will be a requirement. Fans of this item will hold their breath.
The triathlon offers athletes the opportunity to showcase their skill and ability. The events involve running, cycling and horse riding and therefore stamina is highly rated. Both participants and spectators will remember this festival highlight for a long time.
The potjie cooking competition needs no introduction, as we South Africans have been practicing this cooking method since time immemorial. Contestants compete to win the title of Best Pot. They use various ingredients for their own pot which is put together with careful planning, skill and experience. They are going to take out and show.
The proceeds from the Oppi Farm Festival 2023 will be used to support the Dullstroom Farmers’ Association, which has already suffered from farm murders and livestock theft.
What a wonderful opportunity to support this worthy cause and at the same time enjoy a day of entertainment and merriment!
Dullstroom’s Farmers’ Association represents farmers in the Dullstroom area and is a non-profit organisation. They work to promote sustainable farm operations, protect farmers’ rights and support the local community.
