79-year-old Robert de Niro doesn’t know much about nursing homes, retirement and settling down. This Hollywood actor has just welcomed his seventh pinkie.
He shared this news in an interview with EN Canada about his new film, About My Father, shared. And this, moreover, in a moment where this news was not at all to be expected.
“I know you have six children,” said the interviewer, Brittnee Blair.
To which Robert simply replied: “Seven, actually. I just had a baby.”
Robert had his previous six children with three women, and did not reveal to Blair who the mother of his seventh child was.
He had his eldest children, Drena (51) and Raphael (46), with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott. His 27-year-old twin sons, Aaron and Julian, sprang from his relationship with an ex-girlfriend, Toukie Smith. He then had 25-year-old Elliott and 11-year-old Helen with his ex-wife, Grace Hightower.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been a cool dad,” he continued in the interview.
“My daughter is 11 and she gives me trouble sometimes. We argue, but I’m crazy about her. With my youngest, there will still be a lot of trouble, but that’s how it is.”
About My Father is precisely about De Niro who, together with his son (played by Sebastian Maniscalco), spends a weekend with his fiancee’s rich and extraordinarily eccentric family. The gathering quickly develops into a culture clash where the father and son’s characters learn the true meaning of family.
The film will begin rolling in local cinemas on May 26.
