Vox Chamber Choir, led by Franco Prinsloo, presents the fourth Mother’s Day Choir Festival at the NG University Resort in Pretoria on 14 May.
Audiences can also look forward to choral singing by the University of Johannesburg Choir, led by Renette Bouwer, the Menlopark High School Choir, led by Jeanmari von Papendorp, and the NWU PUK Choir, led by Kobus Venter.
“We are extremely excited to be able to make art together with two of South Africa’s best university choirs and one of the country’s top school choirs. It is extremely rare that four choirs of this caliber will perform together. Audiences can grind their teeth for breathtakingly beautiful choral music,” says Franco.
Vox Chamber Choir started this music initiative in 2018, and the choir festival is known as a highlight in Pretoria’s annual choir calendar.
Andries Brümmer, choir organizer, says that with this initiative, the choir is trying to take the hustle and bustle out of Mother’s Day by creating a small festival site in the NG University Resort’s courtyard.

“Load mum and grandma in the car, and come and have lunch, drink a glass of wine or cup of coffee, buy flowers and then listen to the most beautiful music.”
The artwork for this year’s concert poster features an artwork by the talented artist, Stephanie Gericke.
The concert starts on 14 May at 15:00. Tickets cost R120 (online at Tixsa) and R150 (before the show at the door). Guests can pre-order a printed concert program for R30.
