A 50-year-old man who is apparently known for his roles in South African soap operas and stage productions was arrested on Friday in connection with a murder in Norkem Park on the East Rand.
Ao. Barbara-Anne Ferreira, police spokesperson, says private security officers were called to the scene in Tenkwa Street on Friday where the body of a 29-year-old man was found in a cottage. The victim is believed to be the suspect’s partner.
“The suspect was still at the scene and in possession of a Beretta firearm. The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.”
Ferreira says the suspect was arrested and taken to Tembisa Hospital for treatment as he had taken an overdose of pills.
“He will be charged with murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“The suspect will appear in Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court as soon as he has been discharged from hospital.”
Although it is currently claimed in the media that the actor has previously been in the popular soap opera 7th Avenue to be seen, it 7th Avenue ‘s spokesperson, Kaylene Bessit, confirmed to Rhewal that this was not the case.
