He stands 1.97 m in his socks, weighs more than 100 kg and will rank in the Bulls’ lines in a temporary capacity.
According to reports, the Bulls have signed a short-term loan deal with Bath to acquire the services of England lock Charlie Ewels.
The 27-year-old Ewels has already represented England in 30 tests while he has run out 111 times for Bath.
However, he suffered a serious knee injury in the Roses’ Australian adventure last year and he is working hard to prove his fitness to Steve Borthwick and co before the Rugby World Cup in France.
There is a possibility that he can already make his debut for the Pretorianers’ Currie Cup team against the Sharks in Durban on Friday.
With the Bulls’ locker room almost empty, Ewels can make a difference on Loftus Versfeld before he returns to Bath again in July.
At least the Pretorians got back on the winning track over the Easter weekend after a star-studded team settled with Griekwas at Loftus Versfeld.
According to Russell Winter, the home team is enjoying the victory – after all, it is something that has been as rare as chicken’s teeth in Pretoria for the past few weeks – but they are certainly not going to light all the barbecue fires now.
“The players have done their best in the last few weeks to win games and I believe that we now at least have some momentum that we can build on. However, there is still a lot of hard work ahead,” said the Bulls’ assistant coach.
