Crime scene experts are combing a scene in Ocean View, Cape Town, where six men were shot dead on Wednesday morning.
Brig. Novela Potelwa, Western Cape police spokesperson, says preliminary information indicates that a vehicle stopped in front of a house in Neptune Avenue in Ocean View around 10:50.
The occupants of the vehicle apparently then entered the premises and opened fire on individuals in the house.
“Five men, between 20 and 50 years old, died in the shooting while a sixth person succumbed to his gunshot wounds shortly after his arrival at the hospital,” says Potelwa.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related and no arrests have yet been made.
Detectives from the provincial anti-gang unit are investigating six charges of murder.
The public is asked to call the Stop Crime number on 08600 10111 with information about the incident. Members of the public can also send information via the MYSAPS app.
