Natalie Portman, the Oscar-winning actress, is the narrator of the highly anticipated National Geographic series, Secrets of the elephants.
The series premieres on Earth Day on National Geographic Wild on DStv as well as on the Disney+ streaming service.
James Cameron directed. Cameron was awarded Academy Awards for the blockbusters Titanic in Avatar.
For Secrets of the elephants Cameron and his film crew traveled the world – from the savannah of Africa to the urban landscapes of Asia – to discover the strategic thinking, complex emotions and sophisticated language of elephants.

Dr. Paula Kahumbu, renowned National Geographic explorer and elephant expert, is featured in the four-part series. The series not only reveals the extraordinary lives of different elephant herds, but also highlights how similar they are to humans.
The four episodes, respectively titled, Desert, Savanna, Asia in Rainforesttakes the viewer on a journey around the world and offers insight into these fascinating animals like never before.
Secrets of the elephants is available on Saturday 22 April on National Geographic Wild, DStv channel 182, as well as on StarSat, channel 221. The series will also be available on Disney+.
