God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that those who believe in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
It is no mere coincidence that John 3:16 is probably the most famous text in the entire Bible. This captures God’s love for people in a nutshell: He loves us so much that He gives up the life of His Son so that we can live forever.
At Easter we marvel anew at God’s love for sinful human children, we once again rejoice at the wonder that Jesus was willing to leave heaven and come to the world as an ordinary person and die on a cross so that our sin can be forgiven.
The most important attribute of God is his love. One only has to look at Jesus on the cross to realize the extent of God’s love for you personally: God loves the world so much, He loves you so much that He let His Son die so that you can live. But if you want to take hold of his offer of grace, it is essential that you believe in Jesus. Whoever does not believe is already condemned because he does not believe in the only Son of God (John 3:18).
Make sure you reaffirm your faith in Jesus this Easter.
Lord Jesus, I believe in You. Thank you for the assurance that I will never be lost, but that eternal life is already mine now. Amen
