The United Arab Emirates has rejected South Africa’s request that the controversial Gupta brothers, Atul and Rajesh, be extradited to the country.
The Gupta brothers are suspected of large-scale involvement in state capture and earlier fled the country.
“We learned with shock and dismay that the extradition hearing was completed on 13 February in the Dubai court and that our extradition application was unsuccessful,” Ronald Lamola, minister of justice and correctional services, announced on Friday.
