The new Renault Captur is now available in South Africa at a starting price of R454,999.
The crossover is one of five cars that the French automaker plans to launch in the country this year, alongside the updated Duster and Koleos, the Megane R.S. 300and the Oroch pickup truck.
It is available in two trim levels with a single engine shared between them, this being a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol unit with 113kW and 270Nm.
The Captur is front-wheel drive and makes use of a seven-speed automatic transmission – the result being a fuel consumption figure of 6.6l/100km.
Accelerating from 0-100km/h then takes 9.6 seconds, while its top speed maxes out at 193km/h.
Both specifications also receive Eco, Sport, and Normal driving modes, and the top-end Intens is trated to a “flying console” with an e-shift gear lever.
Standard equipment on the French car, meanwhile, consists of automatic LED headlights, daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and start, automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, hill assist, cruise control, and a 7-inch infotainment unit with an Arkamys sound system and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Upgrading to the Intens adds a wireless charger, ambient lighting, cloth/artificial leather upholstery, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, alloy rims, a 9-inch digital driver display, and a larger 9-inch media screen.
