Jennifer Aniston says sensitivity stifles comedy
The ever popular Friends-actress, Jennifer Aniston, recently expressed her displeasure with sensitivity around comedy.
“Comedy has evolved, films have evolved,” the 54-year-old actress recently told AFP in Paris, where her new film, Murder Mystery 2, starring Adam Sandler, said.
“It’s a little more difficult now because you have to be much more careful. This makes it terribly difficult for comedians, because the beauty of comedy is that we can make fun of ourselves and life.”
However, this comedy culture has changed, Aniston believes, there are certain jokes that are no longer acceptable.
“There is a whole generation of young people who have episodes of Friends look and feel confronted.
“There were certain things that were asparagus and others that weren’t. Well, we should have thought it through, but I don’t think there was the sensitivity that there is now.”
Jennifer believes that this sensitivity may be the reason why fewer and fewer comedy films are released.
“Everyone needs ‘funny’! The world needs humor! We can’t take ourselves too seriously.”
The sequel to Jennifer and Adam’s 2019 Netflix comedy, Murder Mysterywas released on Friday on this streaming giant.
