Olga Grill, an 88-year-old resident of Bonteheuwel in Cape Town, was bitten to death by her neighbours’ two pit bulls on Tuesday. According to FC van Wyk, police spokesperson for the Western Cape, the incident took place at the elderly man’s home in Loganberry. Her son apparently came across her body on Tuesday afternoon.
An inquest was opened after the dogs apparently jumped over a high fence to gain access to the elderly man’s property.
Law enforcement officers from the City of Cape Town’s animal control unit removed the dogs from the property. No foul play is suspected at this stage.
No arrests have yet been made, but the circumstances of the tragedy are being investigated by the police.
DA ward councilor Angus McKenzie expressed his condolences to the family.
“Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of the deceased who had to give up a loved one to death in this horrible and tragic way.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Stop Crime on 08600 10111.
