A man from Cambodia who loves planes has built a house in the shape of a private jet. He has never flown himself.
Construction worker Chrach Peou used his savings of $20 000 (about R360 000) to build the “plane” out of concrete. His plane near Siem Reap has wings, a tail, landing gear and engines.
The 43-year-old widower and father of three says it took him almost a year to build the house and he saved the money over 30 years.
“It was my dream since I was young. I am very happy that I was able to reach my goal,” said Peou.
The house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and stands on pillars about six meters high in the air above a rice field.
“We live here, sleep here, use the bathrooms and eat here – just like on a plane. It’s my own and I’m very happy,” Peou told AFP.
He designed the house after watching numerous videos of private jets on the Internet. He charges people between 50 cents and $1 (between R10 and R20) to take selfies with the house.
“It’s very beautiful and there are palm trees nearby,” Kim Muoy (28) told AFP when she visited the plane house with her family.
Peou now dreams of flying for real one day.
“When I have money and know where I want to go, I will fly there.”
