Within the framework of the Strategic Dialogue with the USA, the country benefited 4.318 million dollars
Within the framework of the implementation of the Strategic Dialogue between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United States of America, the US Government allocated additional funds of 4.318 million US dollars for strengthening the rule of law in the country.
But how exactly will these funds be allocated, Portalb.mk contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which represented as a delegation the Government of North Macedonia, from where they said that these funds are used according to the priorities of the American government and the needs of local institutions. These were additional funds from the American government, and in other years they were allocated precisely for the rule of law in the country, say the MFA of North Macedonia.
“From 2012 onwards, based on the Letter of Understanding for the implementation of the law between the Government of the USA and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Government of the United States, through the Embassy in Skopje, every year provides support with the aim of strengthening of the rule of law and increasing public trust in criminal institutions – the justice system in North Macedonia”, says the MFA.
More specifically, these funds will be used for projects, which are provided by the International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement – Department of State (US Department of State/Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement) and which are aimed at improving the efficiency of the criminal justice system.
“For this, the Bureau cooperates with the prosecutor’s offices, the courts, the Academy of judges and public prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Financial Police, the Customs Directorate, law faculties, the Chamber of Advocates, the Association of Judges, the Association of Public Prosecutors, the Association of criminal law and criminology, non-governmental organizations, etc., says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to the relevant program of the Bureau, through which support is provided for various events, study stays and professional development, donations and grants, support is offered, the Minister adds, also through the programs of the Office for overseas prosecutorial development, assistance and prosecutorial training in the Department for justice (Department of Justice Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training), intended for prosecutions, courts, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Financial Police, as well as through the programs of the International Program for Assistance for Investigation Training criminal through the Department of Justice (Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program), intended for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
More precisely, this year the funds (4,318,000 USD) have been allocated to projects under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and relevant institutions from the justice system and law enforcement.
Otherwise, the strategic dialogue began on June 2 in Washington, between the government delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani from our side and the delegation led by the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Euro-Asian Affairs. dr. Karen Donfried. The Strategic Dialogue is a forum that provides a framework for bilateral relations and cooperation in defense, economy, education, transport, energy, climate change, democratic development, the fight against corruption, the rule of law, trade and other topics of common interest.
With the beginning of the Strategic Dialogue between North Macedonia and the USA, the friendly relations between the two countries have been raised to a new higher level in the name of deepening the strategic partnership.
