A few hours from the new rules on the borders with Serbia, Kosovo “in cooperation with strategic partners”
On the Kosovo-Serbia borders, from tomorrow there will be some new rules, which for Kosovo are a measure of reciprocity, while “hell” for Serbia.
There are not many hours left when the implementation of the Government’s decision of June 29 will come into force, for the beginning of the conversion of license plates into official ones of the Republic of Kosovo, and for the border crossing with temporary declaration sheets that replace the documents of personal identification from Serbia.
In the morning, the Security Council of Kosovo met. There was discussed the current situation and the coordination of inter-institutional activities related to the implementation of reciprocity for identity cards with Serbia and the beginning of registration with RKS license plates for vehicles with license plates issued by Serbia.
In an announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office after the meeting, it was said that the institutions of Kosovo are united to respond to any kind of situation. For this, it was said that there will be coordination and close cooperation with the allies, reports Rhewal.
“Therefore, the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo remain committed and united to respond to any security situation, always in coordination and close cooperation with our strategic partners”, said OPM.
At the meeting of the Security Council, the procedures for the implementation of the Government’s decisions were discussed, which the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vučić, has considered “hell” for Belgrade.
“Our institutions have already developed all the technical and administrative procedures for the implementation of these decisions, and in this regard, we assure our citizens that the possibility of replacing illegal license plates, as well as the passage of citizens at border crossing points, will be processed in a manner quickly, without obstacles and in real time”, it was said in the announcement of the OPM.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti later assured that “there is no possibility of destabilization” with the beginning of reciprocity in the issue of identity cards with Serbia. He said in a press conference that he is working so that tomorrow everything goes smoothly and properly.
Kurti said that the Serbs who enter Kosovo will simply “have one more document” from tomorrow.
“I am the prime minister of progress and hope. I know that in our northern neighbor, in the political scene there are many politicians and officials up to the head of state who are leaders of fear and intimidation. I believe that peace, democracy, the rule of law, the Republic, constitutionality have no alternative, therefore I wish, believe and work that tomorrow everything will go smoothly. We will not take documents from people coming from Serbia to Kosovo. We will attach a declaration sheet. So they come with documents issued by Serbia. We don’t take them. We issue them a declaration form because for 11 years Serbia has been acting the same as every citizen of our Republic when they cross the border and go to Serbia. So, from tomorrow, they will have one more document, not less”, said Kurti.
He said he believes that tomorrow everything will go “for the best”.
“There is absolutely no place for tension, there is no possibility for destabilization, because something legitimate, something legal is being done. Those who talk about violence, barricades, blockades, destabilization, tensions, talk about themselves, not about us. We are a democratic, peaceful Republic and I believe that everything will go as it is best”, said Kurti.
Previously, Vucic threatened in a speech in Belgrade. He complained that Serbia “has never been in a more complex and difficult situation than it is today”, while talking about the decision of the Government of Kosovo for reciprocity with Serbia in the matter of travel documents.
Vučić, in his well-known role, addressed the Albanians and the international community, asking them to “keep the peace”.
If they don’t want to keep the peace, I’m telling you – Serbia will win”, he said.
“The situation for our people in Kosovo is very complicated and complex… Do you think we have ever been in a more complex and difficult situation than it is today”, said Vucic in his speech to the public.
Vuçiqi accused the Kosovo Government of “trying to take advantage of the mood in the world”. According to him, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, wants to present himself as the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“They made a decision to impose things that they have no right to impose, first of all on the people in the north of Kosovo. Previously, they sent their units with 21 tons of fuel and everything else to the Jarinje and Bërnjak administrative crossings, with the desire to stop all those who have Serbian ID cards. All this should start tonight at midnight, while at the same time convincing the Serbs to give up the KM signs”, said Vucic.
For this matter, Prime Minister Kurti today again invited the Serbian citizens to replace the “KM” license plates from the time of Milosevic, with license plates of the Republic of Kosovo.
