The Minister of Health of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Rifat Latifi visited the HCMFs in the municipalities of Skenderaj, Klina and Istog, where he met with the mayors of the municipalities, with the directors of the Health Departments, with the directors of the HCMFs, and with the medical staff.
The purpose of these visits was to call for vaccination of the citizens and to give thanks to the medical staff and nurses, who, with their work and dedication, gave everything of themselves to protect the citizens in the most difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On this occasion, Minister Latifi expressed his deep gratitude for the extraordinary work done by everyone in the vaccination centers throughout Kosovo for the immunization of our population against COVID-19, under the supervision of the Immunization Committee and the Management Team of this process.
Minister Latifi said that for a long time, vaccination against COVID-19 has been the number one priority in the world in dealing with COVID-19 and, also, in Kosovo. And, being at the head and part of this vital process for the public health of the population, is as much a responsibility as it is a motive and a privilege to serve the population in very difficult days.
“You have done it and you have proven it! We are witnessing that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought us all a lot of suffering. But, on the other hand, it has revealed the best professional and humanitarian side of the white cloaks of Kosovo. While clinicians are our heroes in treating those affected by COVID-19, you and the vaccination teams are the heroes in preventing many deaths from COVID-19 in Kosovo, through vaccination,” said Minister Latifi.
Minister Latifi added that through the delivery of over 1.8 million doses of the vaccine, of which 63% of the population over 12 years of age received one dose and 57% from two doses; and 70% of the population over the age of 18 have received one dose and 64% from two doses; hundreds or even thousands of lives have been destroyed.
All this, according to Minister Latifi, through a vaccination that started in Kosovo the latest in the region, but thanks to your dedication, ranked our country among the best countries in the region for vaccination against COVID-19.
Therefore, Minister Latifi emphasized that the gratitude for you and all those who were part of this commitment is more than deserved.
“But today, when the inequalities in this process are still felt in different parts of the world and when the COVID-19 pandemic has not ended, it is not time to stop. You need to maintain and strengthen our shield against COVID-19”, said Minister Latifi, among other things.
The topic of discussion in these meetings was the trap and vaccination with the fourth dose for people over 40 years old, while we also allowed the vaccination of children aged 5-11 years.
“The committee is discussing the possibility of allowing the vaccination of people with chronic diseases soon with the fourth dose. We have enough, safe and effective vaccines. Therefore, since we have all the conditions, we must increase the pace of vaccination and I call on all citizens to be vaccinated without any hesitation. Doctors, nurses, teachers, pregnant women and other categories,” said Minister Latifi.
Vaccination, according to Minister Latifi, remains the simplest and most effective way to prevent severe forms of the disease from COVID-19, but also to fight various epidemics and pandemics.
Meanwhile, the mayor of the municipality of Skenderaj, Fadil Nura, thanked Minister Latifi for the visit and meeting the needs of this municipality, in the improvement of the primary health system.
Meanwhile, the mayor of the municipality of Istog, Ilir Ferati, said that the visit of Minister Latifi shows his commitment to the health of the citizens, so that we have the best services for patients.
