IPK denies Nuredin Lushtaku: There are no police officers suspected of the incident in Skenderaj
The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (IPK) confirms that so far there are no police officers suspected of last night’s incident in Skënderaj, where two police officers were injured. The former vice president of Skenderaj, Nuredin Lushtaku, is suspected to be involved in this conflict, together with some of his family members.
In a written response to the Express newspaper, the IPK says that until this stage of the investigation, there are no suspected police officials, therefore the Kosovo Police will continue the investigations related to this incident.
“The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo, respectively the investigators of the Department of Investigations, have been informed about this incident. After the same announcement, they went to the place of the event where the guardian prosecutor was also present. After consultations with the guardian prosecutor, we inform you that at this stage the investigations related to this incident will be continued by the Kosovo Police (since based on the investigative actions and after consultations with the guardian prosecutor in this case, up to this stage of the investigation there are no any suspected police official)”, says the response of the IPK given to Rhewal.
In a statement for RTV Dukagjini, Nuredin Lushtaku, stated today that he is at the police station and that he will not give details until the police investigations are completed.
Whereas, for Kallxo.com, Nuredin Lushtaku, has denied that he, his sons or brothers used weapons against police officials.
According to him, the police injured the police.
“It’s not like that at all. But the accident happened, the trouble happened, I didn’t hurt anyone, neither did the brotherhood, nor the boys. The policeman injured the policeman. We didn’t even use weapons, I say that with full responsibility. The police report is also pending. I have given the statement, I am ready to state what happened. The police pointed the gun at the brothers, the fight happened. I don’t know if he killed anyone or if he killed me, he knows what he is saying. I gave my statement, we did not injure the policeman. I’m sorry for what happened, but this is the truth, we didn’t injure anyone, we didn’t use weapons”, Lushtaku told Kallxo.com.
In the meantime, Lushtaku did not answer the calls of Express Newspaper, the same then stopped the phone.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the case, while two others are on the run, the police have confirmed.
It is not known which of the people involved in the conflict was handcuffed.
The policemen have been sent for medical treatment to KKUK, while the motive for the double injury is suspected to be related to the imposition of a traffic fine.

On 02.07.2022, around 23:55, it was reported that two police officers were attacked in Skenderaj during a checkpoint, one was wounded in the leg with a firearm and the other was injured by strong tools.
Both police officers are out of danger, they have been sent to KKUK for medical treatment.
Up to this stage, two people have been arrested and two others are being sought by the Police.
Regarding the case, operational and investigative actions are being taken in cooperation and coordination with the relevant institutions. /Rhewal/
