Gërvalla: We are late for the application to the Council of Europe, it should have happened in 2009
The chief diplomat of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, said that Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe is very late.
In the show “dPt te Fidani” on T7, Gërvalla said that this application should have been made since 2009.
“I think that for the application for membership to the Council of Europe, we are too late, because we should have started membership since 2009. The Council of Europe is an organism, a mechanism that ensures human rights. Minorities and there is no reason why Kosovo should be the last country in the region that is not part of the Council of Europe”, said Gërvalla.
She further said that Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe is a long process.
“As for the political support of the political instances of our partners, we have full support in relation to membership in the Council of Europe. Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe is a long process. It has taken most of the countries years and years”, said Gërvalla.
