Hovenier: Those in Kosovo and the region who are involved in corruption should not sleep peacefully
The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier, said that people in Kosovo and the region, who are involved in criminal activities, should not sleep peacefully, as they can be sanctioned at any time.
“People in Kosovo or in countries in the region, who are involved in organized criminal activities or corruption, should not sleep peacefully and there may well be certain sanctions at some point,” Hovenier told Rubicon.
He said that they do not see sanctions decisions in advance and that they usually inform people about these decisions at the time they make them public.
“What I mean is that the president has given the authority to government agencies to monitor individuals who meet certain criteria potentially to be sanctioned. Much work is being done about the people involved in Russia’s unwarranted attack on Ukraine, and a number of people are being sanctioned for the individual role they have played. “There are authorities that address in particular transnational organized crime and the people involved in transnational organized crime and corruption,” he said.
